Why We’re Different

I have worked both as a fee appraiser (20+ years) and as Certified MN Assessor (11+years) which has given me a broad base of experience from both the private, banking and public sectors. I have significant experience in dealing with all types of properties for all types of appraisal assignments.

I have represented city government for tax appeals and acquisitions, assessment and economic development; engineering companies for right of way appraisals and minimum compensation; private individuals and attorneys for divorces and property settlements; public accountants and attorneys for estate and trust administration; attorneys and contractors for building completion settlements; as well as many other situations.

I’m different because I have an extensive background in agriculture having grown up on a ranch in western ND, having taught vocational agriculture and adult farm management.

This experience makes me well suited to perform agricultural appraisals because I understand the soil science which ultimately drives value for farmland.

I have also worked for attorneys in Chapter 12 (farm bankruptcy) in the 1980’s and understand the income side of farm and ranch operations.

My work with the City of Moorhead gave me broad based experience in determining the fair market value for apartments, commercial and industrial properties. I have also appraised tax exempt properties such as churches, college buildings, offices, etc.
MN allows taxpayers to appeal values in the MN tax court and I was the lead investigator in several large cases during my employment.

Infrastructure of our governments continues to expand and I have had the opportunity to appraise rights-of way for road projects that involved many parcels adjacent to projects. I have also been involved in Electrical Transmission Line rights appraisals and have represented clients in court as an expert witness for these types of assignments.

Few appraisers have had the broad base of experience, the depth of experience, the exposure to appraisals under Federal Rules or the expert witness experience that I possess.
